Unlocking the Pathway to Retrofit Innovation: RetroNetZero

08 May 2025
Housing Action Hub
Innovation plays a key role in delivering all the benefits of retrofit, whether that’s rethinking how we use data, finding smarter applications for materials, or developing more efficient technologies. On the surface, innovation and regulation can feel like opposing forces. Innovation thrives on speed and experimentation, while regulation moves more slowly, grounded in the need for consistency, safety, and evidence. And yet, both are essential. RetroNetZero is a project which aims to bridge the gap between these two forces to unlock the full potential of retrofit, using 'regulatory science' to help good-quality innovations reach the market more smoothly. Join this discussion to hear from project partners on new tools and research that will enable specifiers and innovators alike.
