Dr. Verónica Torres de Sande is a Senior research engineer at the Manufacturing Technology Centre, with a strong commitment to implement more sustainable and effective construction solutions. Her specialisation lies in engineering analysis in construction, encompassing the diagnosis and repair of buildings, structural calculations, and construction.
Her industry experience includes developing and commissioning technical projects, expert reports, architectural projects (all RIBA stages), conducting structural assessments, and providing sustainable practices advice, always ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
Academically, she has a strong background in research on low-carbon materials and processes, aiming to decarbonise the construction sector. She holds a PhD in Construction Materials, with a focus on the use of low reactive biomass ashes in cementitious materials (mortar and concrete) to enhance the strength capacity and durability.
