Michael Samways joined Accelar in 2023 as Director of Sustainability and the Built Environment, where he not only supports existing service lines but also leads the development of innovative advisory services for clients. He brings a wealth of experience from his role as Head of Development at the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation, where he was part of a team spearheading the development of the UK’s first 21st-century garden city. His work there was instrumental in delivering major civic buildings, infrastructure, and environmental projects, securing both public and private investment.

With over 20 years of expertise in ESG, energy, and sustainability, particularly within the built environment, Michael has worked across a wide range of sectors including financial services, healthcare, education, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing. His achievements include conducting technical due diligence for over 1GW of renewable and low-carbon energy assets and developing finance models and energy efficiency retrofit programmes in both commercial and residential property. Michael has held leadership roles at Arcadis, E.ON, SKM, and Enviros, and began his career as an environmental planner with the Environment Agency.
