Training Manager, British Woodworking Federation
Working in education and training I have introduced NVQ’s to transport haulage, set up an awarding organisation for active fire safety systems and now represent members of the British Woodworking Federation as Training Manager. I am passionate about professional education and in my role for the BWF am proud to work with other businesses in the construction sector as well as government and standards setting bodies, ensuring that sector competency, National Occupational Standards, Apprenticeships and vocational qualifications are fit for purpose and develop the current and future skills demand of the sector and in ensuring opportunities for a successful career in working with wood. It is my view that everyone is entitled to university standard education but they should not have to go to university to achieve it. It is important that education fits the needs of the individual and serves the needs of the sector.
