Why Bloor Homes partnered with Digital Office Group
Bloor Homes, founded by John Bloor in 1969, is now one of the largest privately owned housebuilders in the UK. For over 50 years the company has been committed to crafting quality homes and providing outstanding customer care.
THE CHALLENGE
As part of a wider project to drive efficiency, we set out to rationalise Bloor Homes print environment by expanding an existing managed print service in place at Head Office across all other locations including building site cabins and marketing suites.
Before Bloor Homes considered using managed print services outside of head office, there was no central control over printers used in multiple locations.
A culture of consumable based desktop printers meant that each site used various branded devices with different feature-sets and different running costs. Individuals bought their own toner and ink, and attempted repairs when things went wrong.
Expansion brought a corresponding increase in the number of developments opening throughout the UK. In addition, the firm’s printing infrastructure mushroomed. A growing number of sites were buying their own printers, with no one managing devices or usage.
Addressing intensifying costs and complexity, the company’s leadership discovered a solution that could address the issues: Xerox Managed Print Services.
Digital Office and the leading house builder joined forces to design a perfect MPS solution. Today, print management and help desk support are centralised, with a streamlined fleet of networked printers and multifunction devices. Even better, print costs are now 35% lower.
THE SOLUTION
The MPS had two main focus areas: Removing all personal printers and providing IT with complete control over the print fleet.
The managed service transition began with a roll out of Xerox VersaLink C7020 MFD’s across all 78 building site offices and installing VersaLink C405 A4 MFD’s to all Marketing Suites.
Because every device is networked, they can be accessed, managed and supported from virtually anywhere, making IT stress free for the end user and departments. Additionally, the features on the new Xerox devices meant that users could print via smartphone or tablets.
Control is stronger than ever. Print activity is monitored closely, with reports that track usage, capture costs and identify areas for improvement. Additionally, an on-site Xerox team proactively manages support, often providing service and supplies before users realize there is a need.
Equally key, the advantages of MPS are all bundled in a simple “utility model” click rate, bringing the additional advantage of cost efficiency. And that’s just the beginning. The solutions experts at Digital Office are already exploring new solutions that include one touch scanning and DAAS.
“That’s what’s great about all this,” says a company spokesperson. Digital Office is constantly bringing us new ideas and innovations.
