TRADA's Better Timber Buildings conference returns for 2019
The Better Timber Buildings conference returns this year, emboldened by its success in 2018, with a specially curated programme headlined by two fantastic keynote speakers. Come along to the Royal Geographical Society, London, on 27 November 2019 for a concise one-day conference intended to both educate and inspire – empowering architects, engineers, suppliers and clients to design and build better timber buildings.
TRADA is delighted to announce that Sam Elliot, The Office Group’s Development Director, and Nick Ling, Heatherwick Studio’s Technical Design Lead, will launch the event. Sam will provide a client’s thought-provoking perspective, while Nick will elaborate on the outstanding design work behind the new Maggie's Yorkshire.
‘We intend to build on the momentum created by last year’s conference,’ Rupert Scott, TRADA’s Membership and Marketing Manager, shared, ‘There are many reasons why we should embrace timber in construction, the most important of which is its remarkable ability to sequester carbon, yet there are still plenty of opportunities and issues to address – and rightly so. The Better Timber Buildings conference is TRADA’s platform to challenge preconceptions around timber, provide much-needed guidance on current barriers to use, and whet the appetite with some truly outstanding timber buildings.’
TRADA will unite necessary discussion around the durability and fire performance of timber with exciting forward-thinking concepts around healthy buildings and offsite construction. Most of the speakers invited have undertaken methodical research in their specialty, enabling them to impart knowledge based on empirical evidence which you can trust.
The conference is supported by a collection of high-profile exhibitors, including Rothoblaas, Sherpa, Gilmour & Aitken, Vastern Timber, STEICO, ZÜBLIN, Pollmeier, BM TRADA and STMAG.
