INTERVIEW WITH RICHARD HIPKISS, DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR OF THE MODULAR & PORTABLE BUILDING ASSOCIATION
The Offsite Show is set to return to London’s ExCel from May 7-9, bringing together leaders and innovators in the offsite construction sector. This year, the Modular & Portable Building Association (MPBA) will play a vital role by leading The Transformation Hub on the opening day. We caught up with Richard Hipkiss, Development Director of the MPBA, to discuss their participation and what attendees can expect from the show.
What brings the MPBA to The Offsite Show?
“The MPBA attends The Offsite Show as it’s the only live exhibition in the calendar that focuses exclusively on the offsite market,” explains Richard. “Our association and members represent a large proportion of this sector, so it’s a key event for us. It’s a fantastic opportunity to network with MPBA members, connect with newcomers to the industry, and review the latest innovations and regulations.”
Richard highlights the diverse programme and exciting features of the event, noting that the MPBA often plays an active role in shaping the discussions. “The Offsite Show always delivers a great platform to engage with the offsite community and stay ahead of industry trends.”
What can people visiting the event expect?
“Visitors can look forward to a showcase of supplier innovations that drive the offsite sector,” says Richard. “From fasteners and set panels to complete buildings, there’s something for everyone involved in modular construction. And of course, the MPBA will be there front and centre.”
Richard emphasizes the inclusive nature of the event, adding, “We’re excited to engage with anyone interested in modular construction, whether they’re seasoned professionals or new to the industry. It’s a unique opportunity to see everything in one place and learn from industry experts.”
Which sessions would you recommend?
While the session schedule has yet to be released, Richard shares his enthusiasm for the seminar programme. “The sessions are typically organised into topical agendas, focusing on areas like net zero and sustainability. I personally find the case study sessions particularly compelling, especially those covering the commercial sector, health, education, offices, and retail. These sessions provide valuable insights into market developments you might not otherwise encounter.”
