ENTREPRENEUR SARA DAVIES UNVEILS SECRETS TO BUSINESS SUCCESS AT UK CONSTRUCTION WEEK LONDON
Sara Davies MBE is the epitome of entrepreneurial success. Born in Coundon to entrepreneurial parents, Frank and Susan, Sara's passion for innovation was evident from a young age. She embarked on her entrepreneurial journey while studying for a Business Management degree at York University. It was during this time that Sara spotted a gap in the market for a tool to create bespoke envelopes for handmade cards, leading to the creation of the ground-breaking craft product called The Enveloper, with assistance from her retired engineer father.
From these humble beginnings, Sara's venture, Crafter’s Companion, has flourished into a global phenomenon. The company offers a diverse range of papercraft products, sewing and needlecraft items, and its own brand of art materials, Spectrum Noir. Today, Crafter’s Companion designs, manufactures, and sells its craft-related products to customers across 40 countries and employs over 200 people worldwide.
Sara's achievements have garnered widespread recognition, including appearances in the Sunday Times’ SME Export Track 100 list and receiving an MBE in the Her Majesty’s Birthday Honours List in 2016 for services to the economy. She has also been named in the 'Who’s Who of Britain’s Business Elite' and received the Creative Entrepreneur of the Year award at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards.
In addition to her entrepreneurial endeavours, Sara has ventured into television, appearing as the youngest entrepreneur to join BBC One’s Dragons’ Den in 2019. She also showcased her dancing skills on Strictly Come Dancing in 2021 and authored two books, including her autobiography – We Can All Make It.
